My research interests are in the area of Integrated Pest Management, with emphasis on arthropods and other invertebrate pests in soybean and alfalfa. The focus of my program has been in three main areas. 1) I conduct work in host plant resistance including examining new potato leafhopper resistant alfalfa. 2) I focus much of my efforts towards examining invertebrate populations in soybeans grown using conservation tillage practices, especially no-tillage. To that end, I have conducted considerable research on slugs in no-tillage production system. 3) The last area of research is examining new and increasing arthropod problems, including work on the bean leaf beetle and its relation to bean pod mottle virus in soybeans, and on the soybean aphid, a new pest of soybeans in the Midwest. I currently teach a course at The Ohio State University in Host Plant Resistance to Insects and co-teach Advanced Economic Entomology
