Laboratory for Pest Control Application Technology (LPCAT)

The goals and objectives of LPCAT focus on (1) improving application efficiency for pesticides and biological agents; (2) acquiring fundamental understanding of the pesticide delivery system by defining the biological, economic, and ecological requirements for a pest-control application strategy with special emphasis on fundamentals of toxin-dose transfer efficiency; and (3) developing improved strategies for reducing involuntary exposure to humans, non-target plants, or organisms. As an exemplary interdisciplinary research laboratory, it is the only one of its kind in the United States involving projects in five departments to address common problems. Its state-of-the-art equipment and strong industrial support base allow greater responsiveness to immediate industrial needs. Our laboratory provides excellent opportunities for the education of graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and visiting scientists. We have strong international ties and cooperative research arrangements with overseas centers of excellence.
