Population Genetics of Arthropods
The arthropod population genetics lab provides a full array of tools for conducting experimental research on mites. We are geared to population-level approaches but have capabilities for direct and liaison molecular methods. We are primarily interested in the genetic system of mites and insects. In particular, students look at how sex ratio shifts operate as a mechanism for ecological adaptation. And, we address how mating systems and modes of reproduction affect fitness and evolutionary potential.
