Vector-Virus
OARDC is recognized as the international center for the study of maize virus and mollicute diseases. Our interdisciplinary team continues to attract visiting scientists and students from around the world. We work to discover, characterize, detect, and control virus and mollicute diseases of maize and other crops, to identify vectors and characterize transmission mechanisms, and to study systematics, biology, ecology, and behavior of vectors. No other group in the world is so well supported, housed, or equipped; and ours is the only one whose efforts focus on virus diseases of a major crop.
